This brooder was set up by simply walling off the end of a garden tool shed with a piece of plywood. Note the litter of pine shavings, the dish of grit, and the heating element with small lamp for illumination and rheostat for temperature control. Note also the feeder—designed to prevent spillage—and the waterer, with its “lip” designed to prevent wading by the chicks, and which can be progressively raised as the chicks grow.
