Psilocybe-semilanceata-FLICKR

Psilocybe semilanceata grows in meadows and pastures over an extremely wide range in the temperate world. This species is closely similar to P. mexicana, the species ingested by Gordon Wasson under the guidance of the Mexican curandera (shaman healer) Maria Sabina in 1955, an experience he described in “Seeking the Magic Mushroom”, Life magazine, May 13, 1957.
