Fall-cover-crop

In the fall, it is especially important to plant a cover crop just as soon as a bed is harvested. Here, you see a couple of beds with a cover of nitrogen-setting peas; one with mixed grain grasses (wheat, oats, etc.); while in the background, trellised tomatoes continue to produce. This particular garden area is off the north end of our greenhouse. When we move the winter flock to the pens in that end, they have a feast on the greenery, and animal life like slugs, earthworms, etc.
